Chiming in here late, following to see if Adobe's got their head out of their tail ends on this matter. I don't see that they have, contacted them as to whether they've got this addressed on the macOS platform - and, they haven't due to the printing subsystem. Adobe indicated this issue is related to the structure of the UNIX/macOS OSes. I don't see anything that's changed in the past 7-10 years on this matter, bummed to offer this. Nothing's changed, UNIX or macOS - all of the files in my office that have multiple layouts go through my Windows file server and it's looking as though that won't change anytime soon. The link in Post #4 offers nothing new over Adobe's features going back years.

The other option is to make sure you have the most recent version of Sierra, then hold on and continue to install any Sierra updates in order to get all available bug fixes from Apple. But that isn’t a problem right now, since the number of regular (that is, non-developer) Mac users on APFS is zero, because the current macOS (10.12) doesn’t use APFS. Of course it could be a problem if you’re testing macOS 10.13 High Sierra. APFS is not the standard until High Sierra ships to the public, and High Sierra is months away from shipping. Adobe can be considered late if their software is not APFS compatible by the time High Sierra ships, but not before. The real question is whether the next versions of Adobe software will, but whatever beta software Adobe has is not public, or at least, not yet. As a lifetime Mac user, I would say if past trends hold, we will be OK.
It seems to tie into Flash, and the error mentions Flash, so one thing to try is to make sure you’ve updated to the latest version of Flash. The last line that starts with “Source” says “Adbobe InDesign Server” but that should probably be spelled “Adobe InDesign Server” so you might try correcting the script (using ExtendScript Toolkit which is possibly already installed).
